The mission of Healthier Evansville is to collaborate with community partners to provide programs and services that promote physical activity, proper nutrition, prevention and healthy life choices to positively impact the individuals and families of our community. Healthier Evansville was developed by the Nutrition and Physical Activities Team of the EVSC School-Community Council. Through educational efforts and community-wide events throughout the year – such as the annual Healthier Evansville Week – Healthier Evansville seeks to help Evansville residents of all ages live healthier lives by making physical activity a routine part of life, eating a nutritious diet, protecting yourself from preventable illnesses, and making healthy choices and avoiding risky behaviors. |

April 21 - 26, 2008 Healthier Evansville Week is a time for our community to celebrate the healthy choices we’ve made over the past year. Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel will help kick-off Healthier Evansville Week 2008 with a news conference on Monday, April 21, at 12:00 noon at the Old National Bank park/plaza at the corner of Main and Fourth streets in Downtown Evansville. The community is invited to join the Mayor for a walk, part of the Week of Walks, immediately following the news conference. Businesses and organizations are coordinating a variety of health-focused events throughout the week. Check the Schedule of Events often, because new events are being added daily.
