The Vanderburgh County Medical Society is a non-profit association organized in 1845 to promote the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health.

For over 165 years, the VCMS has been a friend and a voice for Vanderburgh County physicians and their patients. With over 500 physician members, the VCMS is the only organization in Vanderburgh County dedicated solely to physicians’ interests.

The VCMS provides information to the community about our member physicians, assists with locating medical records, and presents Doctors’ Day on the first Saturday of March. This year’s event will be SATURDAY, MARCH 3rd at Washington Square Mall from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m: “Be a Doctor for a Day” provides a wonderful opportunity for children of all ages to experience hands-on, healthcare-related learning with hospital and physician exhibits. This great family outing gives the public a better understanding of medical technology and the ever-growing field of medicine. Children get a chance to talk with physicians and healthcare providers in a casual, relaxed setting, helping to alleviate some of the fear associated with a doctor visit. The event is free!
